They are former Chief Justice Shakirullah Jan of Peshawar High Court, and Justice Javed Butter and Justice Tassaduq Hussain Jilani formerly of Lahore High Court.
This raises the strength of the Supreme Court from 13 to 16 Judges but will again be reduced to 12 when Justice Mian Muhammad Ajmal retires on Aug 14.
At a very well attended ceremony, Chief Justice Siddiqui administered them the oath of office.
Talking to newsmen later, the Chief Justice said that the induction of new Judges will lighten the burden of the Court. At present there are over 20,000 cases pending adjudication by the Supreme Court.
He said that since his assumption of office on Dec 31 last until the middle of June this year, some 4,724 cases had been disposed of. He said that he has instructed the office to give priority to older cases while preparing the cause lists.
The Chief Justice said that he had recommended the name of Chief Justice Iftikhar Hussain Chaudhry of LHC for elevation to the Supreme Court but could not say why it was not included in the final list.
He said that he had not examined the petition of advocate Muhammad Habib-ul-Wahab-al-Khairi seeking action against the Chief Justice of Lahore High Court.
By this time, Chair, with a medicine soaked bandage around his skull attracted his attention and the Chief Justice asked his welfare. But before he could answer, a journalist said that the most trusted part Chair was the "grey matter" that had escaped injury and the cracks to the head do not bother him.
